Winter Entry Level Programs Begin This Month!

2018-01-09

Winter Entry Level Programs Begin This Month! Programs will begin the week of Jan 22.

All registered families will receive further details from our VP of Entry Level Programs this week.  Programs will run on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays from 6-7pm.

KYBA offers a Jr. NBA and a KYBA Tykes program for our youngest players.  Jr. NBA is a great introduction to the game, focussed on fun skill development for 5-6 year olds.  Graduates of Jr. NBA or those aged 6-7 new to the game enjoy the KYBA Tykes program, which introduces some further devleopment and game time, prepping our young players for our house league program which begins at age 7-8 with our novice division.

Tykes is a special program as we offer separate programs for boys and girls, therefore ensuring programs are geared to their specific needs.  The Girls Tykes program receives high acclaims and rave reviews from all players and parents alike.  With female coaching staff and mentors (some of our female ONL athletes), and a small group of girls ages 5-7, there is no better way to introduce young girls to basketball in a fun and encouraging manner!

KYBA has long offered programs for players starting at age 5, but in recent years we have evolved from our Small Ball program to create small focussed programs geared to specific ages and expereince levels.  After all, players that fall in love with sport at a young age are more likely to stay with a sport - developing lifelong habits of a healthy and active lifestyle.

Basketball is a fun and affordable team sport that anyone can enjoy.  And even the youngest of players can enjoy successes of the game, by getting baskets and making passes to their teammates.  Our entry level programs use nets at a lower level and student athlete mentors and coaches are on the court to guide our young players along the way.  This allows players to build confidence in themselves, and that translates to other areas of their lives.  Sport not only develops self confidence and self esteem, but promotes health and helps players develop physical and social skills alike.  When youth are having fun, they don't even realize just how much they're learning, and just how much their mind and body are benefiting!  Team sports teach our youth about working together for a common goal, and that being active is fun.

Don't miss this opportunity for your young player to join a sport and learn what all the fuss is about!  Limited spaces remaining, so register today here!  All entry level programs, whether Jr. NBA, Boys Tykes or Girls Tykes, will choose "Jr. NBA" as their registration program option in Step 2 of the registration process.
