KYBA In-house Referee Program - training sessions update

2014-09-29

The KYBA Referee training program will start Tuesday, October 7

To all KYBA members and families interested in our in-house KYBA Referee program!

There will be a mandatory referee training session/clinic for anyone looking to officiate in the KYBA this season on:

  • Tuesday, October 7, 7:00-9:00 pm at St James school (50 Stonehaven Dr) W
  • Wednesday, October 8, 7:00-9:00 pm at St Gabriel school - 400 Keyrock Ave

All returning and aspiring referees are only required to attend one of these two clinics.

For this year's clinic, there will be a registration fee of $10 per official to cover the cost of the clinic and the upcoming online evaluation.

Please ensure you bring this $10 with you to the clinic or you will not be considered for the final referee roster.

For any additional questions - please contact Andrew DiMillo KYBA Referee In Chief

Each season, the KYBA House League program is officiated by our in-house referees, who are hired and trained by the KYBA to ensure the safety and accuracy of all house league games.

This year, however, we are changing things up a little bit due to a number of issues that occurred last season related to reliability, commitment, and quality of officiating.

Referees will then be required to complete an online exam and on-court training before they will be permitted to officiate any house league games.

It is imperative that our referees are well-trained and are able to perform the duties and responsibilities of a certified official. With one of the largest house league programs in Eastern Ontario, it is our responsibility to ensure that this occurs, and we feel that the new procedures will benefit all of our members in the long run.

Thank you for being a part of KYBA and we hope to see you at referee training!
